5 reasons not to miss Solid Grooves On The Dock

Their biggest UK show to date

On July 1st, the seminal tech house brand Solid Grooves mark their biggest UK show to date as they take over one of London’s latest rave destinations; Dockyards London.

Since it’s humble beginnings in 2013, Solid Grooves has become a renowned record label and hugely popular event that has played a significant role in shaping the tech house scene. Headed up by co-founders and respected artists in their own right Michael Bibi & Pawsa, over the last decade their unstoppable brand has gained a wide-spread reputation for its signature sound and infectious party atmosphere.

With previous shows at some of the world’s top venues including Printworks, DC10, Privilege, Depot Mayfield and Fabric, July 1st will see Solid Grooves take on a brand new party hotspot for an open air all-dayer as part of the Dockyards’ Summer Series.

Here’s 5 reasons you need to be there to see it :

The lineup is a house & tech enthusiasts wet dream
If you’re a fan of Solid Grooves, you’ll know by now they don’t do half measures when it comes to lineups. Well, that’s exactly the case for their billing at Dockyards. Head Honcho Michael Bibi tops the list – a firm fan favourite who needs little introduction these days. Alongside him is another house music tastemaker who makes his SG debut; Jamie Jones. Nicole Moudaber joins them, who’s exhilarating hybrid performances are truly something to behold. UK Dubstep pioneer Skream will also be bringing his inimitable energy to the proceedings, among many more including Ben Sterling, Toman, Dennis Cruz & Silvie Loto.

The venue looks incredible
The Dockyards is a newly opened space under the umbrella of Broadwick (who also run Printworks) which first opened last September. With a truly stunning backdrop of London’s skyline, this waterfront location offers a unique outdoor setting. Housed within an island is Silvertown Quays, this 400,000 square foot area holds enough space for 20,000 ravers, 3 stages and aims to provide a new home for large scale events in the UK.

Production will blow your mind
if the venue’s natural backdrop wasn’t enough, the production looks out of this world. Each stage is kitted out with state-of-the-art lighting and world class sound systems to keep the music pumping all day long. The main stage boasts picturesque views of the surrounding area which looks simply incredible as the sun sets. Match this with captivating visuals on giant LED screens and you’re in raving paradise. The other two stages pay tribute to the site’s industrial aesthetic, with the Container Yard creating a metal arena out of shipping containers and The Yard’ acting like a pop up illegal rave with the booth looking like it’s been made from scrap metal materials.

Getting there is a breeze
Nestled in the heart of East London’s Royal Docks, the venue is easily accessible from across London and the surrounding areas. Simply hop on the Elizabeth Line or DLR via Canning Town, Bank or Stratford. The closest and easier station is Custom House, with entry to the site via a floating pontoon bridge which has been especially installed for the event and so won’t appear on any maps. You can also arrive by taxi using the designated drop off/pick up point located Dockside Car Park, E16 2QT.

Everyone loves a day party
It’s quite literally a fact. Day parties have that unique energy and atmosphere which you can’t always capture at shows which run through the night. With the event starting at 12:00 running all the way through to 22:30, you’ll get 10 and a half hours of partying in the sun (hopefully) and then seeing the picturesque sunset when day turns into night and the production truly comes to life. And of course, for those who like to continue the party into the early hours, there’ll no doubt be an afters…
