Brand new venues to open in London & Manchester this summer

SQUARE ONE and Ernie's Yard open their doors this June

Two brand new party hotspots are about to hit the UK shores this summer, with both bucking the unfortunate downward spiral of nightlife closure. After many are expecting the third summer of love, and events/festivals selling out in record time for 2021, could this be the perfect time for new venues to emerge from the post-Covid ashes?

12,000 square foot of open-air space called Ernie’s Yard will be opening its doors to hopefully an abundance of eager ravers on June 25th. The outdoor venue will be located in London’s Canning Town on a former scrapyard. Utilising the venue’s raw aesthetic, Ernie’s Yard will repurpose existing shipping containers and the site’s vast open land to create a food zone, multiple bars and two event spaces. This may be the ideal spot to dance under a summer sunset in the capital.

The brains behind the project are also the team who run The Cause, and Costa Del Tottenham. The new venue will host 12 hour open-air parties that run until 11pm, with the likes of Secretsundaze, Percolate, Art of Dark, Adonis, Warm Up and more due to put on shows at the space. Don’t worry about the unpredictable British weather though, as the venue will be equipped with stretch tents and clear roofing to circumnavigate the summer showers that we will undoubtedly receive.

Stuart Glen, co-founder of Ernie’s Yard says

“Back in 2019 we walked past a huge street food & drinks venue built from shipping containers and decided to have a pint. As we walked in, the bartender explained the lease was up on the site. I immediately thought this structure would be amazing for a party, maybe I can buy it and find some land to move it to.

Two weeks later we’d agreed to buy it, put a deposit down and had three months to seal the deal on some land I was after. Long story short. Two sites fell through and we’ve been juggling where to put nineteen 40 foot shipping containers for two years. It’s been a sticky situation to say the least but somehow we’ve managed to pull in some favours, met an East End legend called Ernie and Bob’s your fathers brother – ‘Ernie’s Yard’ was born – a killer new daytime space for London”

For those not local to the capital, It isn’t just London hitting the open-air headlines. Manchester will also be getting a brand new rave space called SQUARE ONE on June 26th. Parties will run from 2pm until 11pm, and the venue has already teased their stellar event programme, with the likes of Denis Sulta, Enzo Siragusa and Hot Since 82 booked to play.

Opening near Piccadilly Station, transport links to and from the the venue are easily accessible. With brands such as Zutekh, Jika Jika, Animal Crossing and Amsterdam label PIV booked, SQUARE ONE looks like the place to be in Manchester this summer.

The venue went on to say:

“Manchester is our home. This one is for the dancers, a new venue with no-nonsense. Let’s make up for the lost memories and come together, a good and proper open-air affair. Summer is coming and the dancefloor is ready”.
