London-based promoters LWE are set to kickstart an exciting five part event series this weekend, at one of the capital’s freshest new venues. Famous for throwing large scale events in obscure and intriguing spaces, LWE’s portfolio includes many fan favourites on the rave calendar. The brains behind a long list of shows at Tobacco Dock and pioneers of Junction 2 Festival are back with a groundbreaking concept for 2020. The new series, named “Sphere” will make use of of an immersive production & sound system rig, housed in Greenwich’s latest party playground – Magazine.
Stretching over 19,000 square meters on the Greenwich Peninsula, Magazine offers a seismic complex of open spaces with multiple rooms, floors and even a terrace that boasts an urban river view. Over the next 5 weeks, LWE will transform this blank canvas into a one of a kind raving experience. Featuring one of the world’s leading sound systems supplied by L-Acoustics and a never before seen 360-degree lighting set up.
In essence, Sphere has been designed to bring all the elements of a good show together, uniting ravers in a mass display of music and visual art to make attendees feel like part of the show, rather than just a spectator.
With all this incredible production comes a stellar line up to match. The five-part series will showcase some of the biggest talents from within the underground music realm. Kicking things off on February 15th for the opening show, will feature the likes of Hot Since 82, Eats Everything and and Maya Jane Coles before Maceo Plex and Marcel Dettmann perform the following week.
Week three will play host to techno queen Charlotte de Witte and MODEL1 ambassador Richie Hawtin with others in support. Week 4 sees Drumcode’s leading lights Adam Beyer and his wife Ida Engberg perform all day long, before the Geordie sensation Patrick Topping plays alongside Skream and others for the grand closing party on the 21st of March.
With the new concept looking set to break the mould of modern raving as we know it, matched with a hefty bill of house & techno’s top selectors, it’s safe to say you’d be silly to not witness this history in the making.
