After nearly a decade away from its hometown, one of the world’s most influential club brands is officially returning to Manchester. Sankeys has confirmed that a brand-new venue will open in the city centre, marking the first official Sankeys space in Manchester since the closure of its iconic club in 2017.

The new venue, designed for an intimate experience with a 500 raver capacity, aims to recapture the raw, underground spirit that defined Sankeys at its peak. Central to the experience will be a stripped-back aesthetic and the brand’s hallmark LED matrix grid. An immersive installation set to bathe the dancefloor in shifting light, sound and atmosphere.

Known globally after being crowned Best Club in the World in 2010, Sankeys’ legacy is rooted deeply in Manchester. Its return is poised to be a major moment for the city’s nightlife.
The reopening will be celebrated with a two-night launch on Friday 30 January and Saturday 31 January, officially marking the club’s homecoming. From Saturday 7 February, the venue will introduce Sankeys Saturdays, a weekly series that will also see the legendary night Tribal Sessions reinstated with a monthly residency.

Staying true to its heritage, the club plans to remain a platform for breakthrough artists. Sankeys has historically been a launchpad for acts who later became global names — from ANOTR and The Martinez Brothers to Daft Punk, Solomun, The Chemical Brothers and more. The new Manchester venue promises to continue championing cutting-edge underground house, tech-house and techno, alongside beloved returning artists from the brand’s past.

Creative Director David Vincent says the vision is to keep the spirit of Sankeys pure and uncompromised.
“What we’re creating is an intimate underground club with a chill out room. We will only be open one night a week on the Saturday. There will be no VIP or phones allowed on the dancefloor — everyone is a VIP. People need to stop taking pictures and start dancing to the beat.”
With its return, Sankeys looks set to reignite a defining chapter of Manchester’s club culture. This time with a modern, tightly focused, underground edge.
