Preview: Step Inside at Star Lane with Jeremy Sylvester

The mental health movement is back with a show this weekend

Following a string of impactful events across London, Step Inside is set to make its return on Saturday, 15th November. This time taking over Star Lane Pizza Bar for a day-to-night showcase packed with groove, good energy, and meaningful conversation.

Built on a foundation of openness and community, Step Inside isn’t your typical events brand. Run by Angelio and Frank, the initiative has become a movement that aims to normalise conversations around mental health while giving DJs the chance to truly shine. Each event merges powerful soundscapes with a purpose: to raise awareness, funds, and dialogue for mental health causes, supporting charities like Mind.

Talking about the upcoming show, Angelio and Frank said:

Frank & I are beyond excited for this! This one is truly for the books. An absolute honour to have one of my GOATs and a UK Garage legend — Jeremy Sylvester — joining us at Star Lane. You really can’t beat it.

The focus for this lineup was high energy, authenticity, and showcasing the new wave. Jelsen was a no-brainer — especially after “Move Your Hips” and the successful year he’s been having. Frenchhh. and Munni shelling it back in August at All My Friends made it clear they had to return for this one. And we’re gassed to welcome back Al:Chemi, the boys are true selectors and understand groove on a deeper level.

Beyond the music, this Star Lane is about community. It’s about showing that you’re not alone and that spaces like this can exist where people genuinely show up for one another. That’s rare in this industry — and that’s why Step Inside exists.

This next instalment promises to keep that energy flowing. Expect a carefully curated lineup of selectors bringing an eclectic mix of house, garage, and deep grooves. This particular show features a very special guest; UKG royalty Jeremy Sylvester. Playing alongside will be regulars and newcomers alike, with sets from Jelsen, Al:Chemi, Frenchhh, and Munni, each bringing their own flavour to the dancefloor.

Ahead of his debut for Step Inside, Jelsen spoke about his plans for the set:

I’ve been excited for my Step Inside debut since meeting Angelio back in June. We clicked right away, became really good friends, and have been there for each other ever since. This friendship has helped us overcome challenges we have both faced this year, as having someone to talk to when things get tough has really helped us both mentally. Speaking about what’s on your mind isn’t a sign of weakness, it should be used as a tool to maintain a clear and healthy mind.

The showcase at Star Lane has fallen at the perfect time for me, as I’ve been working hard in the studio recently so I have a fat stack of unreleased bombs to unleash on the day. You can expect only the bumpiest, hands in the air house and garage rhythms that will move your hips, to the left and the right.

Star Lane Pizza Bar provides the perfect backdrop — an intimate East London venue known for its laid-back yet electric atmosphere. With doors opening at 2pm and music rolling through until 10pm, the event strikes the perfect balance between a daytime session and a proper night out.

Frenchhh. commented on what to expect from his forthcoming performance:

Step inside at Star Lane — why wouldn’t I be excited?

I’ve got a lot of love for what Angelio and Reggie represent, especially with it being for a cause that’s close to my heart. Star Lane’s one of my favourite venues — I rave there regularly, so it feels special to be stepping up behind the decks this time. The cause means a lot to me personally; it’s affected people close to me, and the charity has done incredible work supporting them.

Last time I took it back to my early days, digging deep for tunes I hadn’t played in years. I’ve just released my debut solo EP on EC2A — a huge milestone that captures exactly where my sound’s at right now: a UKG, Speed Garage, and Tech House melting pot. Big love to the label for believing in it and bringing it to life.

So this time, it’s all about where I’m at now — loads of unreleased bits from me and plenty of high-energy floor fillers to keep it moving.

As Step Inside continues to grow, one thing remains consistent: the music connects people, but the message keeps them coming back. This isn’t just another party — it’s a movement reminding us all to dance, connect, and talk about what truly matters.
