On July 5th, the city of Esmoriz, Portugal will once again host Sound Waves Festival. This year’s event is particularly significant as it marks the 20th anniversary of the festival, which has grown into a major gathering for fans of techno. Over 30 artists are expected to perform across two arenas, including the newly introduced Vicious Stage.
The Mainstage lineup was divided into three announcement phases. The initial reveal included artists such as OGUZ, SNTS, Jazzy, Onlynumber and blk. These names represent a range of hard and industrial techno styles and are renowned for their strong following in the underground scene.
The second phase added more established figures like Fatima Hajji and Rebekah as well as popular talents like Fantasm, Basswell, Novah and Cloudy, the latter two making their first appearance at the festival.
The final lineup additions for the Mainstage include Lorenzo Raganzini and several newcomers and collaborations. LUCIID and Joanna Coelho will be performing b2b sets with national artists Ornella and Miss Shelia, while the duo A E R E A present a live set.
A notable addition to this year’s format is the Vicious Stage, aimed at highlighting up-and-coming talent from Portugal and Spain with Ana Dimco, Bubba Brothers, Burns, Dimension 9, Gaiveu, Shivas and Pestdokter due to feature. Sound Waves Festival has become a staple in the Iberian electronic music calendar, and this year’s extended format and expanded lineup underscore its growing prominence.
