Ministry of Sound launches new tech house event this Saturday

The venue recently underwent refurbishment

Ministry of Sound in London is set to introduce a bold new underground event series called URGE, focusing on the darker, raw side of tech house. Kicking off on Saturday, February 1st, the inaugural event will feature an impressive lineup of international talent, including David Squillace, Cuartero, Rennie Peters, Jan, Sanne Dammers, Travis Casa, Metronomy’s Olugbenga, and Batida Perfeita.

URGE aims to immerse its crowd in the true spirit of tech house, with a minimalist, low-lit atmosphere designed to keep the focus firmly on the music. Drawing inspiration from the genre’s roots in London clubs during the ‘90s, the party strips away excess, delivering an experience for late-night dancers who crave authenticity and deep connection with the underground sound.

The first event taking place this Saturday 1st February will be headlined by Italian tech house legend Davide Squillace, who leads the This And That label. He’ll be joined by Cuartero, a Spanish stalwart known for his cutting-edge approach to the scene, alongside Rennie Peters, a key member of the INLV crew, and Olugbenga, the bassist from Metronomy. Also on the bill are Sanne Dammers, known for her seductive style of tech house, along with EDD, Travis Casa, and Batida Perfeita.

Travis Derrick, Ministry of Sound’s Head of Promotions & Talent, shares the vision behind URGE:

“We’re shining a light on the headier side of tech house, house, and techno with a focus on underground talent. We wanted to create an experience that’s raw, daring, and minimal yet impactful, with branding that provokes the senses and pulls you into the music.”

URGE is set to take over all five rooms of Ministry of Sound, which recently underwent refurbishments to enhance the venue’s immersive experience. Updates include a new lighting rig in The 103 and an all-year-round canopy in the courtyard. The venue’s legendary rooms — The Box, The Baby Box, and The Loft — will continue to deliver their unique atmospheres, paired with high-quality sound systems and stunning visuals.
