Ahead of INLV’s collaboration event with Italian giants After Caposile, we caught up with rising female star Rennie Peters to chat about her plans for production, how she winds down after a busy weekend and what animal she would have as a pet.
Rennie has become a staple act for Lovejuice and their sister brand INLV in recent years, even managing their record label. This has led to her playing a multitude of festivals and events in the UK and further afield, including Abode On The Rock and Parklife to name a couple. With more bookings flying in up and down the country, she’s gaining quite the reputation on the circuit and there’s no doubt on she’s on course to reach the upper echelons of the house music scene.

When was your first introduction into house music and what made you fall in love with it?
I have always loved all types of music including house, but my first experience that made me really fall in love with house was when I was going to squat parties around 16 years old which were mostly drum ‘n’ bass, and a DJ called Ricky Sensi started to introduce house stages. Me and my mates would learn how to cut shapes and ended up just going for the house music and the rest is history really. I always felt like I could dance better to house music where it’s slower BPM compared to DnB and I loved showing my mates music that I found that they hadn’t heard before.
Who has been your biggest inspiration or idol since starting your journey in music?
One person that I’ve really loved watching grow and evolve is Alisha. I remember watching her play in EGG when I was 18/19, when female DJs in clubs weren’t really a thing and thought she was wicked, so to now see the level she’s at is really inspirational to me. Another DJ is Chris Stussy, when I first learnt how to mix, I downloaded all of his releases along with the whole PIV catalogue and I really fell in love with that sound. The way he’s created his own path and unique sound is something that I really strive to do in my career.

Your performances have become known for featuring throbbing basslines, infectious vocals and the odd timeless classic. Talk us through how you piece together your DJ sets – do you prep any playlists in advance or prefer to wing it on the fly?
It’s a bit of both really! I’ll always put a playlist together for an event full of tracks that I really would love to play, whether it’s new music or old gems that I’ve found whilst digging, but sometimes it doesn’t go the way you hoped – the crowd might not be what you expected, the music played by previous DJs might be completely different to what you thought and I’m a firm believer in trying to keep the vibe as much as possible if it’s worked well. I always get to the venue at least an hour before I play so I can get a vibe of what’s working well, and sometimes I have to completely change my set!
You’ve played at larger capacity such as Studio 338, intimate venues like Source Maidstone and festival stages. What’s your favourite setting to play in and why?
I used to be terrified of playing smaller, more intimate venues. I’m not sure why. I think because quite early on I was fortunately playing bigger stages and festivals with LoveJuice, and I hadn’t played smaller venues as much. However now I get really excited to play smaller venues, I find the crowds are usually more in tune with the music and you feel more connected.

After a long weekend of DJing, what’s your favourite way to wind down and relax?
A big fat lie-in and a reset day! Usually my bedroom is an absolute tip from frantically trying to find outfits and pack for being away, so a good clean and tidy and a slow day is the best.
With your name continuing to build and a stream of bookings coming through, are there any plans for you to start producing too?
Yes! I am learning at the moment – slowly but surely. I definitely underestimated how difficult it is to learn, especially with working full time as you need to dedicate so much time to it – but I’ll get there!

You’ve no doubt had some memorable moments on the road whilst touring, but are there any particular highlights of memories that will always stay with you?
My favourite memory has to be when I played Abode On The Rock in 2022, Courtney and I were meant to have our own apartment but we ended up staying with the Beats LDN crew in their villa. Everything from meeting at the airport, to getting to the villa and then the weekend after that was 10/10. I’ll always remember that weekend. Unfortunately don’t think I can disclose anything that took place LOL.
Can you tell us what’s on your rider?
Absolutely! Of course – Silver Patron Tequila, lots of pineapple juice and bottled water (which never gets drunk unless my best friend is there – she always makes sure I drink water LOL).

Do you have any exciting plans or announcements in the pipeline you can tell us about?
Now that I’m back with INLV, there’s always something exciting. We’ve got our next event at Studio 338 in collaboration with After Caposile – the line-up for that is massive – Dennis Quin b2b Robbie Doherty, Locky b2b Mad.Again, Casey Spillman, Francesco Maddalena, Francis, Chopper b2b Finky and myself. Then the next party is on NYE and the line-up for that is really exciting too – all will be revealed soon.

If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you choose?
I would absolutely love a pet chimp – but a well behaved one. I’ve always said if I was an animal I’d be a monkey (maybe not well behaved lol)
Finally, If you had to pick one track to play in every set you perform, what would it be?
Just one?! The first one that comes to mind has to be “So In Love With You” by Duke. I love playing and hearing that track so much.
