Beloved DJ and producer Patrick Topping is adding an exciting twist to Sober October with an alcohol-free daytime rave. Announced via Instagram on September 11th, the Newcastle-born artist shared his enthusiasm for creating an alternative rave experience, that prioritises music and promotes well-being.
Topping’s journey to sobriety began in 2017, and he emphasised how it improved his connection with music and boosted his mental and physical health.

Speaking about the event, Topping said:
“I’m not saying I’m fully against alcohol – every other event I play at sells alcohol. I just want to offer an alternative where people can come and not feel the pressure to drink but still enjoy that communal experience of raving together.”
The event is scheduled during the day, ensuring attendees are full of energy while eliminating the post-party exhaustion or hangover. Topping wants to spotlight music, creating a “fully positive experience,” where the focus is on unity and health.
The exact date and location is still TBC, fans were invited to suggest potential cities for the rave, with a link to register their interest here.

This venture is a refreshing shift for the rave scene and has received a positive reception from ravers – proving that communal dance culture can thrive with or without alcohol. Whether you’re participating in Sober October or simply looking for a new way to enjoy rave culture, this could be the perfect opportunity to celebrate music in a healthy, vibrant space.
