South Africa’s Amapiano has taken the world by storm. This September, the Kings of Amapiano are set to ignite dance floors across the UK and Europe with the official Rap Academy UK & Europe Tour 2024. In collaboration with Pie Radio, Manchester’s biggest youth-led radio station, this new event series promises to deliver the electrifying rhythms and infectious energy of Amapiano to fans across five major cities in the UK and Ireland.
The tour brings together some of the hottest names in Amapiano, headlined by artists from South Africa’s Rap Academy. Leading the lineup are Shakes and Les, a dynamic duo renowned for their innovative Amapiano beats that have taken dance floors by storm.
Joining them is DJY Biza, also known as the “Piano Meditator,” whose unique sound has earned him a devoted following across Pretoria West and beyond. Rising star Success, a young DJ and producer making waves in the Amapiano scene with her engaging style and rapid ascent, adds even more fire to this already stellar lineup.
Adding to the excitement are performances by 031 Choppa, a versatile vocalist and producer with a significant fan base across South Africa, and the powerhouse pairing of Ice Beats Slide & Sbuda Maleather, known for their dynamic live performances and seamless studio synergy. Rounding out the lineup is Zee Nxumalo, an Afropop and Amapiano prodigy whose soulful melodies promise to captivate audiences.
Kicking off on September the Rap Academy Tour 2024 will make its way to some of the UK and Ireland’s most iconic venues. The tour touches down in Dublin at Vela on September 14th, followed by Slay in Glasgow on September 22nd. Next, the tour hits Birmingham’s LAB11 on September 27th, an independent warehouse venue celebrated for its cutting-edge atmosphere and location in the heart of Digbeth.
On September 28th, the tour moves to Manchester for a performance at Factory International, before concluding on September 29th at London’s iconic E1, a venue renowned for its dedication to underground music and the perfect setting for a genre that continues to push the boundaries of sound and rhythm.
As well as the shows, Manchester will host a special event on September 24th. The “Future of Amapiano” panel at Factory International will feature Zeus Omega, an advertising strategist for DJ Uncle Waffles, alongside Rap Academy artists Shakes & Lee, Zee Nxumalo, and Djy Biza. This panel promises an in-depth discussion about the genre’s current landscape and what the future holds for Amapiano music. Free tickets available here!
