Disused London tube stations are now available to hire for parties and events

The spaces can cater up to 300 guests

While drinking on the tube may be banned, an exciting alternative is on the horizon: hosting parties in Underground stations. Transport for London (TfL) is introducing the opportunity to hire out tube stations for events.

In addition to tube stations, TfL is opening up river piers and cable cars for picturesque shindigs. You can organise anything from product launches and cocktail receptions to music events accommodating up to 300 guests.

Among the venues available are the seldom-seen closed ticket halls at Aldwych, the decommissioned Jubilee line platforms at Charing Cross (complete with a stationary train), and the Waterloo and City line platforms at Bank station. The IFS Cloud Cable Car and river piers such as Westminster Pier and Blackfriars Pier are also available.

Westminster Pier is also available to hire

However, there’s a caveat: since the spaces will be provided as ‘dry hire’, additional licenses might be necessary for alcohol service.

Julie Dixon, Head of Customer Information, Design & Partnerships at TfL, commented:

“There are numerous intriguing locations across the TfL network, and I’m thrilled that we can now offer some of these for exclusive event rental. These venues boast functionality and iconic status, embodying the essence of London and its rich history, making them ideal for hosting a variety of events. They’ll not only captivate transport enthusiasts but also those seeking a distinctive and unconventional venue for their event to shine.”

Who’s up for throwing a rave in the underground then?
