Manchester's favourite grassroots festival returns for 3 special summer dates

Green Island Festival, a beloved staple in Manchester’s grassroots music scene, is gearing up for its highly anticipated return in 2024 with a thrilling expansion.

The festival has announced its first wave of the line-up and an exciting addition to its venue roster, welcoming the esteemed cultural institution NIAMOS into the fold. Set to take place on three separate dates – June 15th, July 27th, and September 7th, Green Island Festival promises an immersive experience celebrating music, art, and culture, providing a serene escape from the urban bustle.

Diversity remains a cornerstone of Green Island’s ethos, with a line-up spanning neo-soul, jazz, ska-punk, indie, hip-hop, and electronic genres. Headliners such as Afriquoi, Def MaMa Def, and David Walters promise electrifying performances, alongside a roster of emerging and established artists.

Co-founders Stephan Agbogbe and George McGirr express their commitment to empowering local talent and championing global sounds, ensuring Green Island Festival 2024 is a celebration of inclusivity and creativity.

This year, Green Island Festival doubles in size, accommodating up to 1000 festival-goers across its expanded venues. The iconic NIAMOS will host the main stage, where legendary performers such as Nina Simone have graced the spotlight, while Warwick Street transforms into a vibrant hub for food and drinks.

The festival’s original location; Hulme Garden Centre will house four stages, including the Marquee Stage, Forest Stage, The Bandstand, and the newly introduced Audiophile-inspired Selector Stage.

This year sees Green Island partnering with Eat Well MCR, a local organisation that provides meals to homeless families and others in need. With each ticket purchase, there will be the option to add a £1 donation to Eat Well MCR. Grab yours using the link below!
