5 stand out tracks from Eric Prydz, Adam Beyer & more at On The Beach Brighton

A masterclass of melodies in Brighton

On Sunday 23rd July, On The Beach Brighton hosted an iconic all day party with Swedish sensation Eric Prydz headlining alongside a colossal line up of support. Over 5,000 ravers turned up for the Sunday party, many who we spoke to seeing Eric for the second time in two days after his Cirez D b2b Adam Beyer set at Junction 2 the day before.

The setting was visually stunning; with a huge main stage, VIP section to the left, and the sea on your right, it was wonderful to get lost in the oceanic views. That said, the pebble beach did make it difficult to get around, we would highly recommend wearing sturdy shoes if you’re going to attend this event in future!

Located on the beach between Brighton harbour and pier, Eric was joined by Drumcode label head Adam Beyer, the inimitable Kolsch, UK progressive titan Cristoph, and London duo Eli & Fur. With every DJ performing putting on a masterclass, the records being played expertly blended between techno and progressive, filling the south coast air with entrancing, melodic sounds. Whilst it is hard to choose just five, here’s some of our stand out tunes heard on the beach that day!

Cristoph, Adz, Luke Coulson – The Edge
Played by: Cristoph

What a record this is. Released in June this year on Cristoph’s own imprint ‘Consequence Of Society’, it perfectly fit the day party, with a pumping, grooving bassline and ethereal almost haunting vocals. As the uplifting chords came in and the crowd’s hands went up, you knew it was a special moment!

Kolsch – Grey
Played by: Kolsch

A classic from the Danish producer. Originally released back in 2016 on Kompakt, this is a now iconic record. The horns are instantly recognisable, with the crowd chanting the melody along with it! Kolsch originally teased this record in with his mix, before playing it later, leaving those with keen ears waiting for it to drop.

Olive – You’re Not Alone (Zimmz Edit)
Played by: Adam Beyer

A fresh interpretation of a 90s banger. The Zimmz edit of the classic Olive track went down a treat with On The Beach ravers, as the famous chords and vocal came in the entire crowd were singing along. This unreleased edit has been a feature in Adam’s sets recently, with the thumping techno sound in full force as the track reaches its crescendo.

Pryda – The Return
Played by: Eric Prydz

The first Prydz release in over 3 years. This one has been garnering huge fan attention since he started playing it during his latest round of HOLO performances. The encapsulating melody is a real heart tugger, a perfect example of the more underground sound that Eric plays as his Pryda alias. We’re glad this one got a release!

Eric Prydz – Every Day
Played by: Eric Prydz

The standout moment of the day. With Eric playing a set absolutely littered with IDs, we were treated to a real special show packed full of music we’ve wanted to hear live. That said, when the strings of Every Day came in, the entire crowd erupted, a real goosebump moment. With the iconic melody and vocal paired with a blue laser show, this rounded off a fantastic day in Brighton.
