Former Shoreditch nightclub ‘Cargo’ re-opens as bar/restaurant ‘The Viaduct’

East London nightclub Cargo, which lost it’s license in late 2021, has re-opened as a restaurant, tap room and cocktail lounge. The old space on Rivington Place has been completely refurbished, utilising the warehouse aesthetic but breathing a new lease of life into it.

Split into three elements: The Arch, Tap, and Cosmos, The Viaduct now provides an all day service with an option for you no matter what mood you’re in. Settle in for some uplifting casual food, taste a selection of craft beers, or kick back with a cocktail!

The first area is The Arch – an all day restaurant serving what they describe as ‘casual British food‘. The Arch also has an outdoor terrace (with cover), keeping Cargo’s two famous Banksy pieces that the artist created here back in the early 2000s.

In collaboration with E1 Brew Co. (a beer brewing company grounded in the culture of Shoreditch), Tap is a spot designed for craft beer enthusiasts. It has a carefully curated selection of craft beers and exposed brick decor complemented by plush booth seating.

Then there’s Cosmos – a ‘hedonistic cocktail lounge‘ with booth seating and areas for group bookings. In addition to expertly concocted cocktails, they have a menu full of tasty sharing platters and nibbles, and are even hosting cocktail masterclasses!
