Manchester’s Mayfield Depot to see in 2022 with final show of the season ‘The Riot’

Start 2022 in style at 'The Riot'

Once Fatboy Slim has spun the last record of 2021, and the dust has settled from NYE at WHP, a collection of Manchester’s finest rave scene institutions will be preparing to start 2022 with an almighty bang. On New Years Day, Electric Chair, Repercussion, Homoelectric, and The Warehouse Project unite together to present ‘The Riot’. Between the Mayfield Depot and the iconic Grade ll Listed Star & Garter pub, Manchester will host over 30 artists to close the return season.

With nightlife closed until July this year, Mayfield Depot has done well to host over 300,000 revellers, and they are putting one hell of a party to celebrate the end of lockdown and the return of the dance floor. Acts like Bicep, The Chemical Brothers, Honey Dijon, Jamie xx, Solomun, Avalon Emerson and many more artists are still to take centre stage for their headline shows up to the end of the year. The closing party though, is an eclectic mash up of artists without any serious stand out headliner. The Blessed Madonna, Krystal Klear, Jayda G, Todd Terje, DJ Seinfeld, Louie Vega,  Moxie, & Sherelle are just a snippet of the incredible program the organisers have pieced together.

The distinctive sets for an end of year riot will be Louie Vega on the concourse for a 3-hour set, back to back exhibits come from Hunee & Palms Trax, Moxie & Leon Vynehall, and Erol Alkan & Ivan Smagghe. Horse Meat Disco will be raising the standard at the Star & Garter for all the resident DJs like Krykso and Greg Lord in the loft, with DJ Paulette, Nancy Noise and Abigail Ward playing downstairs. The iconic pub has put up the Repercussion family to many plaudits for 2021, having opened the season at The Warehouse Project.

As always for these boutique, one off events, a full range of food & drink will be provided by Escape to Freight Island. Presenting a special selection from their visionary food market and unique offering of bars. You can read about our experiences at the depot, with our review of Bicep in 2019, or even our latest events there, where we saw Eric Prydz tear down the place in October and the exceptional ‘Curated By Four Tet’.
