The 4 week series will feature a 100% female-led show to celebrate International Women’s Day

A brand new series of shows is coming to BBC Radio 1, providing the soundtrack to your Friday night courtesy of Junction 2. The series kicks off on March 5th with the first of four special acts, showcasing the latest and greatest underground dance music from 2am.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the month of shows will be curated purely by female DJs within the scene. Each week will be hosted by LWE’s very own head of operations; Alex Beattie, who’s been at the forefront of organising some of the UK’s leading events, including Junction 2 festival.

The first show on March 5th, will see a guest mix from Sonja Moonear. The Ruta5 label boss has continued to rise through the ranks year on year, becoming a Junction 2 fan favourite after her b2b set with Nicolas Lutz two years running. Alongside DJing around the globe, she also performs a live music project under the alias: Junction JM.

Friday 12th ushers in a takeover from one of Poland’s most in-demand talents; VTSS. Known for her gritty, dark and fast techno, VTSS has burst into the limelight of late and is now a firm fixture in the Berlin club circuit after relocating to the city. Rumour has it she may be making her debut J2 Festival appearance soon…

On Friday 19th DJ and Rinse FM show host Jossy Mitsu is in the hot seat. Her infectious playing style has lead to sets at top UK clubs including Motion in Bristol and Fabric London. Following a head-turning appearance for J2 at FOLD, her debut at Junction 2 Festival is due to take place this year, making the residency radio show a special taste of what’s to come.

March 23rd, sees the Brazilian born producer and DJ; ANNA in charge of the grand finale. Boasting 20 years in the game, ANNA has made her mark on the industry, releasing music with prestigious labels such as Drumcode and Afterlife, as well as featuring on the coveted BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. Previously due to play the infamous Bridge Stage at J2’s cancelled festival last year, ANNA took part in the brand’s award winning virtual festival with a standout performance. Her closing show will no doubt go out with a bang.

Tune in to BBC Radio 1 from 2am each Friday throughout March, to bring Junction 2 directly to your living room.
