Hope is on the horizon after the news of New Zealand hosting licensed festivals and raves across the country, without the need for social distancing or face masks. NZ was quick to act in light of the virus spreading; closing borders and enforcing strict measures early on to get ahead of the curve, before cases could spiral out of control.

The country’s prime minister Jacinda Ardern has been praised for her party’s response to the pandemic, which has led to fewer than 100 active cases of COVID-19 nationwide. Out of a population of 5 million people, tens of thousands have now been partying at the nation’s biggest festivals. Rhythm and Vines welcomed 20,000 visitors to Gisborne on December 31st with Chaos In The CBD on the bill, whilst Northern Bass in Mangawhai featured Dimension for another three day NYE celebration.
The start of 2021 has seen these parties continue, with Josh Butler performing for Electric Rush on January 3rd and many more events in the works. Fingers crossed the rest of us can say the same soon.
