Promising news has landed from an event held in Barcelona this month. PRIMACOV was hosted by Primavera Sound, who teamed up with the local hospital Germans Trias, and the Infectious Diseases Foundation to trial the utilisation of rapid speed COVID-19 testing.

Taking place in Barcelona’s Sala Apolo venue, the event saw 1,042 attendees party with no social distancing to the sounds of local DJs. Attendees were required to take rapid speed COVID-19 tests, which deliver results 15 minutes before entry. Providing the test is negative, ravers could then experience a party in full effect – something the majority of us have not been able to do since March.
Speaking about the trial, PRIMACOV have said :
That was, precisely, the objective of this study: to validate these kind of tests as an extremely useful tool to be able to carry out any type of event, whether musical or not, without social distancing.”
This news comes as a 350 capacity London venue called 100 Club is due to trial a new ventilation system designed to protect from 99.99% of harmful airborne pathogens – more on this to follow.
