Following a successful debut show with Jimmy Switch and Habitat boss Roger That, Funktion returns to Canterbury on the 21st April with more house music heavyweights. The freshly formed concept, curated by a group of like-minded ravers joined the busy underground music industry at Canterbury’s Loft Bar earlier this year. Off the back of their inaugural party, the brand are eager to bring more of the genre’s top selectors to their home city.
Setting up shop at one of Canterbury’s newest venues, Funktion will take over Tokyo Tea Rooms for an Easter Sunday special (no work on Monday!). The club’s unique layout and tasteful Japanese decor sets a vibrant scene, whilst offering the chance to see international DJs in a rare intimate space.
Topping the bill finds Resonance Records co-founder Max Chapman back on the coast of Kent. A DJ and producer of increasingly high calibre, who’s chart topping tracks have been released on massive labels such as elrow, Kaluki, and Toolroom. Last year saw a milestone in the rising star’s career, after stepping into the booth for Pete Tong’s legendary essential mix. Expect a set of high energy tech house rollers from him in Canterbury.
Second headliner on the night sees mix & blend wizard Jack Swift in control. Famous for his seamless use of hot cues, loops and quick fire wrists flicks, he’ll no doubt have some tricks up his sleeve to make Funktion’s second outing a night to remember. Also joining in support are local selectors Andrea Harkin, Vine, Kohler, Pan Plays and Since Day.
