Artist Spotlight : Black Girl / White Girl

There's no sign of this pair slowing down soon

The multi cultural and multi skilled double act who’s hypnotic releases have been featured on some of the industry’s most respected labels are under the spotlight this month, with plenty to talk about from their journey so far. Comprising of Ty & Karin, Black Girl/White Girl was formed on the premise of their ethnic roots which are spread between the Caribbean and Israel.

Their acclaimed discography has struck gold in all corners of the underground house & techno scene, catching the ears of an ever-growing list of artists with support ranging from tech house favourites such as Solardo to no nonsense heavy hitters like Pan-Pot. Following their first release at the end of 2014, it took little time before the duo’s work began creeping its way into the inboxes of the scene’s most sought-after labels.

Their 2017 release on Hector Couto’s Roush is arguably one of their most supported pieces of production, with the release also receiving a thumbs up from DJ Mag who rated the EP 8.5/10. Keeping their foot firmly on the gas, subsequent work has featured on the likes of Max Chapman’s Resonance Records and three separate EPs on Green Velvet’s Relief, with the latest EP recently landing on February 22nd titled “Twilight Zone”.

The three track EP pays credit to their diverse skillset in the studio, crafting a electronic cocktail of mind-bending grooves and thumping peak time techno. Support has already come in the form of Nic Fanciulli, Damian Lazarus, Danny Howard, Joseph Capriati, Shiba San, Tough Love and plenty more. See what all the fuss is about for yourself via Beatport

Away from the studio, the double act are also partial to a DJ set, and an energy filled one at that. With their own releases never starting below 130bpm, you can already tell their performances are rigged with pace and charisma. Maintaining a fresh and open mind when it comes to their selections, they also vow to never play the same track twice, with the basis on this to educate their fans on the extensive library of undiscovered music out there which needs to be heard. This ethos has lead to a string of shows around the globe with performances in Tel Aviv, Amsterdam & Prague.

Black Girl/White Girl’s diary is continuing to fill up over the coming months, with further releases confirmed – one being for a top selling label on Beatport and a huge announcement which will be a shock to the system. Either way, expect to hear them on your soundwaves very soon!
