Lights Down’ is the upcoming EP from rising duo Walkin’Talkz out via Optimist Records. The Kent-based double act hold a regular spot at one of the UK’s leading dance venues, The Source – Maidstone, along with stints around the country, including ABODE In The Park and Solid Grooves.
The EP opens up with the title track, a seven and a half minute onslaught of brooding bassline and dynamic hats. Chopped and manipulated spoken vocals build over the track until they’re unleashed alongside the tightly-wound percussion.
The second track ‘Scared of Love’ utilises jittery chords and soothing sung vocals to bring the track alive. This coupled with a swinging beat and luscious rides sends this into real main room territory. The final track ‘Break It Down’ has a much more housey feel to it, with it’s funky bassline being the centrepiece of the arrangement. A big vocal reverberates over the top of energetic drums as the subtle percussion swings the track into motion.
The Walkin’Talkz ‘Lights Down’ EP is a tech-house fan’s paradise with powerful drums and groovy baselines sure to keep the crowd moving on the dance floor. Out on 14th December via Optimist records, a Montenegrin house music label established in 2017 by Mr. Lekka, this EP is available to pre-order here.
