In the wake of countless venue closures, licensing battles and ongoing struggles with government policies, a new Hackney venue is set to bring some light to London’s underground nightlife.
Formerly The Nest, The intimate basement space has undergone a hefty upgrade, with a newly installed light set up including lasers and a powerful Martin Audio sound system. Under the new name UNDR Hackney, the venue will hold a license running until 4am, with a dedication to act as a platform for genuine underground arts & culture in London.
UNDR will run a programme during weekdays and for weekends plans to curate the chance to see world renowned artists in an intimate setting, spanning across the electronic music spectrum.
The venue’s new owner Matt Wells had this to say :
“I believe that The Nest was always the best intimate clubbing experience in the capital. We’ve now improved the core elements of that experience, namely the Martin Audio sound and lighting. These changes were made to further enhance the customer experience and ensure that UNDR can showcase the best up-and-coming raw talent in music alongside some legends. I own and operate my venues from an independent standpoint, and therefore allow my team to have a free-flowing creative edge. I believe this will be illustrated in our bookings and the culture within the venue.”
Keep an eye on UNDR’s Facebook page for their opening schedule.
